The objectives of this workshop are to discuss the importance of science communication and to introduce trainees to a variety of skills and tools for translating their science for public audiences.
Katie Everson, PhD, is a Lexington-based evolutionary biologist and science communicator. With a strong background in visual communication, Katie has led workshops on designing academic posters, making disability-accessible figures, and using R and Adobe Illustrator for data visualization. She is also passionate about written and oral communication, and was a People鈥檚 Choice Winner in UK鈥檚 2018 3MT Postdoctoral Showcase. Katie is a former postdoc at UK and an incoming assistant professor in the Oregon State University Department of Integrative Biology.
