On Dec. 13, the 91小黄车 hosted a premiere event that was much more than a film screening鈥攊t was a celebration of the dedication, innovation, and human spirit driving health care and education in Kentucky.

That鈥檚 not something you hear often, but for Shan Housekeeper, it鈥檚 a reality. The 44-year-old husband, father of three, and college football coach found himself facing a life-threatening medical condition during a time when the world was grappling with its own health crisis.
Like many during the pandemic, Housekeeper was forced to slow down.

Drew Micciche, MD, an assistant professor of emergency medicine and an attending physician on UK鈥檚 Addiction Consult and Education Services, has been selected as UK鈥檚 Bell Addiction Medicine Scholar for 2024-2025.

The following individuals were honored at the 91小黄车 Awards Convocation on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023. Winners included those in Bowling Green, Lexington, Morehead, and Northern Kentucky.

Since graduating from the 91小黄车, Ben Mattingly, MD, has climbed the highest peaks on each continent, known as the 鈥淪even Summits.鈥 He has gone scuba diving near the Galapagos Islands. He has ridden dirt bikes in Romania. He has fished in bodies of water across the U.S. and traveled to so many countries, that he has lost count.

Burnout is a problem in any profession, but it is rampant in health care. This national problem has been evident recently as the COVID-19 pandemic pushed many learners, practitioners, faculty, and staff to the limit.

Registration is open for 鈥淧ediatric Emergencies: Early Assessment and Treatment of Children,鈥 a daylong conference for all clinicians seeking to expand their knowledge and skills in the treatment of pediatric emergencies.

The 91小黄车 is excited to announce that faculty, staff, learners, and trainees will have free access to a leading online resource for medical Spanish proficiency.
CanopyLearn, a Spanish language training program for health care professionals, will be available to the UK 91小黄车 community starting Aug. 1.

Following an extensive national search and interviews with highly qualified individuals, the 91小黄车 is excited to welcome Na鈥橳asha Evans, PhD, MEd, as the new vice dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and associate professor in the department of behavioral science.

The 91小黄车 is proud to recognize its fourth-year students who learned their pivotal next step in training 鈥 residency 鈥 during Friday鈥檚 Match Day celebrations.

Nearly three years ago, the 91小黄车 launched the Alliance Research Initiative to promote collaboration and mentorship through interdisciplinary research teams. With members spanning across UK departments and colleges, these teams were established to address Kentucky鈥檚 most urgent health needs.
