Chair, UK 91小黄车 Department of Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences

The UK 91小黄车 is currently seeking a professor and chair for the department of pharmacology and nutritional sciences. The chair will report directly to the dean of the 91小黄车 and has responsibility for the overall strategic leadership, direction, and management for the department and is charged with the growth and development of research and teaching excellence of the department and will oversee research, education and other departmental activities. The Chair must also foster and support research in basic, translational, and clinical research in alignment with the vision and mission of the University and oversee the continuing education of the department鈥檚 faculty and overall educational mission. The chair serves as an important spokesperson for UK鈥檚 Pharmacology and Nutritional Science research and educational activities at the local, regional, and national levels.

Chair, UK 91小黄车 Department of Neuroscience

THE OPPORTUNITY
The UK 91小黄车 seeks a visionary chair with a successful record of achievement in academic research in neuroscience or appropriately related fields. Exceptional accomplishments as a researcher and academician are a must, as the chair鈥檚 duties will include continuing the research program as well as supervising and maintaining academic activities.


SCOPE OF ROLE
As an oversight position, the chair of neuroscience will ensure that department faculty work in conjunction with one another and with other groups across the college and campus, sharing research resources whenever possible. This will also include administrative, teaching, laboratory, and mentoring support. The chair will work closely to maximize the net yield of each project and avoid separation or duplication of work in multiple isolated units.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grow the department research faculty and research portfolio and provide oversight for the department鈥檚 research portfolio.
  • Facilitate faculty mentoring in research.
  • Facilitate an environment of collaborative research and conduct, including maintaining records of accomplishments and facilitating the acquisition of external funding.
  • Continue their independent research in line with the goals of the department.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed literature as an author and co-author.
  • Provide oversight for the department鈥檚 educational portfolio.
  • Participate in and advocate for quality teaching programs for all learners within the department.
  • Assign faculty to teaching roles and manage the distribution of educational assignments among faculty.
  • Mentor faculty in various professorial series and oversee the academic development and productivity of the department.

The UK 91小黄车 seeks a visionary chair with a successful record of achievement in academic medicine in psychiatry. Exceptional accomplishments as a clinician and academician are a must as the chair鈥檚 duties will include clinical practice as well as ongoing academic activities.


SCOPE OF ROLE
The chair of the UK 91小黄车 Department of Psychiatry will make vital contributions to implementing the organization鈥檚 most critical strategies and will strive to achieve excellence in a full range of quality measurements. The chair will serve as a liaison between the department and the enterprise, reporting directly to the dean of the 91小黄车. The chair will be directly involved with strategic planning and service development, as well as market development and outreach strategy. Planning for future growth and recruitment to accomplish department goals will be integral to the duties of the chair.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with leadership inside and outside of the department to create an infrastructure comprised of high-quality clinical care and research that incorporates scholarly and teaching activities.
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with clinical leadership, including physician groups, patients, and external entities to foster opportunities for revenue enhancement, enhanced customer service, and to positively impact core clinical measures.
  • Define improved standards of department protocols, goals, and methods for implementation that reflect the department鈥檚 vision for regional and national standing as a leader in academic medicine in psychiatry, as well as a respected service provider in Kentucky.
  • Oversee quality management and provider performance, including physicians, fellows, residents, psychologists, psychotherapists and advanced practice providers for the department.
  • Review and report on provider performance annually.
  • Recruit and mentor those of character into a culture of respect, kindness, and professionalism, where teamwork, innovation, and work satisfaction thrive.
